McDermott's Visit

Spring Break was off the chain (as the youngsters are saying) this year. Our friends from Texas came to visit and we pretty much partied like college students... if that means getting minimal sleep, laying out at the beach, screaming our heads off on thrill rides and getting down to some Top 20 hits (car dancing counts right?)!

It seemed like a terrific idea...the McDermott's flight arrived in Tampa and we immediately whisked them away for a day at the Happiest Place on Earth. I now have proof that the 7 of us can do ANYTHING. We survived 10 hours at the Magic Kingdom...during Spring Break...with no naps...and 3 children under 6! On the boat ride to the Magic Kingdom, Conner and Luke mapped out the best route.

Here are the boys enjoying the carousel.

Here is a not so good shot of the the kiddos sleeping on the way home at 2:30 am.

After getting a rejuvenating 4 hours of sleep the kids were up and ready to hit the beach. We braved even more crowds and headed to Siesta Key Beach. The water was cold but that didn't stop those crazy boys.

Not exactly our own private oasis...but beautiful!

Snack break!

"Hey where is my snack?"

Bathing beauty with a mouth full of goldfish.

That evening the adults had a night out (thanks Steph). It was my first time to go to a tapas restaurant and we sampled what felt like 80 different things BEFORE dessert. Our waiter may have been slightly in awe of our eating ability. Colin either loves giving high fives or really doesn't want his picture taken.

Look at these guys cleaning up after breakfast on St. Patrick's Day. I had to capture this!

Scrub it good Todd... nice seasonal pants and notice Katie supervising in the background.

After the kitchen got cleaned we went to go see the Red Sox and Orioles play a spring training game. Luke insisted on holding Conner's hand everywhere we went.

Claire woke Luke up from his nap...she was much happier about it that he was!

Pillow fort in the living room!

Seriously, we couldn't get Colin to quit cleaning...

For another beach day we decided to head over to Casperson Beach so the guys could do some fishing and (we learned later on) shark tooth collecting. We parked, hiked in and got a (mostly) private stretch of sand where we proceeded to spread our stuff out EVERYWHERE to claim our space.

Not a bad way to spend the morning...

The guys met a nice man who taught them all about collecting sharks teeth. We didn't realize this was the best beach to do it at...

Everybody got in on the action...they probably collected 40 teeth in a few hours.

Goodbye beach...and Spring Break. How much longer till summer???????
