Turns out I'm not so Type A...

This blog has really sucked lately and I am going to try to keep up with it starting now. For some reason working less this year has not correlated to much more free time on the couch with Oprah (for more than one reason). Anyway, I am skipping right past Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years 2011...just typing that constricted my breathing a little. I'm weird...anyway here is what we have been up to. If you look close you might see a new wrinkle or two on mine or Todd's face.

We had another great trip to Disney World in January. This time we stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort in a...you guessed it...pirate themed room! Aaaaarrrrggghhhhh
None of us want to encounter this pirate/Sheriff Woody in a dark alley.

The beauty of the pirate ship bed is that IT NEVER GETS OLD! Even when mom and dad are trying to sleep...the pirate adventure continues.
Oh Disney...what don't you think of?
A before and after for your pleasure...I am just going to go ahead and blame a little website called Pinterest for this redo. That website is not only addicting and inspirational, it is exhausting when applied to real life. Check it out if you haven't already!
New desk, Mark Twain inspired paint and a rug to hide the unsightly cords.

We took a great weekend trip to Indiana in early February to visit my side of the family. The first night we stayed "in the big city" of Indianapolis (we live in Sarasota, FL okay people...nothing is over 3 stories high). After braving the 15 degree temps walking around the city (to find a place to buy hats and gloves) we went to the Indianapolis Children's Museum. This was a great day because the museum is amaaaaazing (that was for Todd and anyone else who watches Happy Endings...do it) and when we left it was SNOWING!
Here is Luke in the dino exhibit...
And not to be outdone by the children...
Look at the size of that egg...
In the giant atrium there were thunderstorms every few minutes.
Todd was too scared to crawl through the tunnel alone so Luke had to go with him...well, maybe it wasn't exactly like that.
Man with a map on a mission.
 Ancient royalty...
For a Toy Story loving family the Mr. Potato Head room was, ummm, hard to get out of. Tiny, little, small, minuscule fit might have been narrowly averted.
 Look at those pearly whites...
 Space commander Luke
We traveled to Egypt next to learn about the daily home, school, and work lives of Egyptian families. Upon  entering the exhibit we lost Luke for about 3 minutes. Both of us panicked internally and found him operating the fake rickshaw, not a care in the world.

Check out the backpack...ummmm??
We took a nice break in the Egyptian Cafe where Luke served us over and over and over and over and over.
 Tea anyone?
Onward and upward to the Barbie Fashion exhibit. Love this pic of Luke manning the phones. Gaining inspiration for the next remodel of Todd's office...anyone know where can I buy pink standard poodle statues?
Todd was having a BLAST... standing in front of his favorite dress.
We loved the Merry-Go-Round with tigers and giraffes as well as horses!
Keep your eyes on the job son!
 Gone fishing...
This is Indianapolis after all, you didn't think we could leave without sitting in a real race car did you?!!
We headed to the birthplace of me, for the second part of our trip. The snow continued all the way to Bloomington and oh boy, were we excited!
But back at the museum...the dinosaurs were busting out with Superbowl gear on!
I know, I know my blog isn't going to win any awards for best editing. But (still) back at the museum, Bumblebee the Transformer was keeping watch. This was thrilling and scary for Luke but remains the MOST talked about thing from the trip!
Luke showing his Great Grandpa some photos of...you guessed it...himself!
LOVE,LOVE, LOVE this picture. Three special people here!
What??!! Did someone say they want to wrestle? Okay Luke is game! Uncle Paul didn't know what hit him, literally.
This was a terrific afternoon spent at my aunt and uncles cabin. With lots, and lots of wrestling.
Lest you forget we were in Indiana...note the basketball hoop on the barn wall. Makes me smile!
Had to visit one of my favorite streets, Kirkwood. This is one entrance to Indiana University...we planned to walk hand in hand through campus but 20 degrees is cold, so we got a Starbucks and went shopping.

Our little hipster heading to the Von Lee theater, hoping to see The Artist no doubt, but depressed to find it has been turned into a Noodle House. YUM!
We wanted to get Luke a T-shirt or something to commemorate our trip. The child insisted on getting this IU hat. We shopped around trying to find something more...age appropriate!? But nope, he had to have this particular hat. I foresee a certain 3 year old wearing this hat EVERY time we go to the beach this summer. I might just glue it to his head.
Here Great Grandma, let me file your nails.
